The essentials of applying for a Nigerian business visa

Not for nothing has Nigeria often been referred to as the “Giant of Africa”; its approximately 184 million inhabitants make it Africa’s most populous country, and the seventh most populous country in the world.

It is a fascinatingly varied country, home to many different religious and ethnic groups, and it has been named as one of the “Next Eleven” countries set to become among the biggest in the world.

Who is eligible for a Nigerian business visa?

Nigerian business visas are available to foreign travellers who wish to visit the country for a wide range of potential purposes, including for a meeting, conference, seminar or contract negotiation.

A Nigerian business visa may also be requested by those involved in sales or marketing in the country, the purchase distribution of Nigerian goods, trade fairs, job interviews, the training of Nigerians, music concerts or emergency or relief work.

Others who are eligible to apply for Nigerian business visas range from crew members and researchers to the staff of NGOs and INGOs.

What are the requirements for a visa?

Applicants for Nigerian business visas are required to have a passport valid for at least six months, with at least two blank visa pages for endorsement and two recent passport-sized (35/40mm) photographs.

They are also expected to have an LOI (invitation), UK supporting cover letter, return ticket, evidence of sufficient funds for their stay and evidence of a hotel reservation or host address in Nigeria.
